What are the differences between China's Au Pair program and Au Pair in Europe and America?
1. The purpose of Chinese host families hosting Au Pairs is mainly for learning English and cultural exchange, so they generally do not require the students to do a lot of household chores. However, it is expected that the Au Pair has a good educational background and rich learning experience.
2. The duration of Chinese Au Pair programs varies from 3 to 12 months. If entering China for the first time with an X2 visa, the maximum stay is limited to 180 days. If the student wishes to extend their program, they will need assistance from SAP to prepare the necessary documents for visa extension.
3. China has well-developed infrastructure and convenient and affordable public transportation options. Au Pairs in China can choose to use public transportation for their daily travel needs and have more opportunities to experience Chinese culture.
4. Proficiency in Chinese language is not required for Chinese Au Pairs; both those who can speak Chinese or those who cannot are welcome to participate.
5. The monthly allowance provided by SAP is 2000 RMB (approximately $300) along with a flight subsidy of 1000 RMB (approximately $150), totaling 3000 RMB (approximately $450). There will also be a one-time bonus upon completion of the program. Although these amounts may be lower when converted into US dollars or euros compared to Europe or America, they are sufficient for covering daily expenses due to lower cost of living in China. Any expenses related to food, transportation, accommodation incurred while staying with the host family will be covered by the host family.
6. Au Pairs holding student visas in China are required attend Mandarin classes regularly and maintain an attendance rate above 80%.
